In the Spring Term of Year 9 you will be able to choose the subjects that you will take for Years 10 and 11 and for your GCSE/BTEC exams. In Years 10 and 11 all students study core GCSEs in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Science (combined or triple) and then four additional subjects.
Please ensure your Guided Choices Form is submitted by 11th March 2025.
Choose a broad range of subjects where you can develop different skills.
Choose subjects that you enjoy and think you will do well in at GCSE.
Think about what you may like to do as a future career, but do not worry at this stage if you are unsure what that career may be. The most common subjects that are asked for are English, Maths and Science which you will have to take as part of your Key Stage 4 options. However, there are links, for example, if you think you might like to do an artistic job like becoming an illustrator, a graphic designer or fashion designer taking Art at GCSE is beneficial.
This CareerPilot link also shows you how different subjects can lead to different careers (you will look at this in your PSHE lessons too).
This BBC Bitesize link gives you some examples of careers and the GCSE subjects you will need for them.
